Women, Intelligence and Hell fire
Muhammad
had 15 wives; he allowed everyone else to have 4. By the end of his
life, he appears to have been pretty cynical. In a nutshell, women in
Islam have been largely consigned to hell because of their supposed lack
of intellect and ungratefulness.
Here are a group of women complaining to Muhammad about his teaching regarding them. Muhammad explains why:

"[Muhammad said]: O womenfolk, you should give charity and ask much forgiveness for I saw you in bulk amongst the dwellers of Hell. A wise lady among them said: Why is it, Messenger of Allah, that our folk is in bulk in Hell? Upon this the Holy Prophet observed: You curse too much and are ungrateful to your spouses. I have seen none lacking in common sense and failing in religion but (at the same time) robbing the wisdom of the wise, besides you.
Upon this the woman remarked: What is wrong with our common sense and with religion? He (the Holy Prophet) observed: Your lack of common sense (can be well judged from the fact) that the evidence of two women is equal to one man, that is a proof of the lack of common sense” [Sahih Muslim, Abdul Hamid Siddiqi, tr., Number 142.]
Note that it takes two women to override the testimony of one man in a court of law. Crimes against women when they finally do come about are very difficult to prove for obvious reasons.

The Prophet (the blessing and peace of Allah be upon him) said: "Isn’t the witness of a woman equal to half of that of a man?" The women said: "Yes." He said: "This is because of the deficiency of her mind." [Sahih Al-Bukhari, Dr. Muhammad Matraji, tr. (New Delhi: Islamic Book Service, 2002), Number 2658.]

These references may be difficult to accept… but are they difficult to understand? _______________
Note that this is a presumption at all levels of Islam. The Koran and the Hadith are in sync here. Even in simple contract law and woman’s word is only of half the value compared to a man’s:
“ let his guardian dictate with fairness; and call in to witness from among your men two witnesses; but if there are not two men, then one man and two women from among those whom you choose to be witnesses, so that if one of the two errs, the second of the two may remind the other; and the witnesses should not refuse when they are summoned; and be not averse to writing it (whether it is) small or large” [Surah 2:82]
Compare this to the Bible’s estimation of women: "Strength and dignity are her clothing, And she smiles at the future. She opens her mouth in wisdom, And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue." (Proverbs 31:25-26)
I will freely admit that some Christians are hypocrites and do not respect each other as they should. But looking at the authorities of both religion would it be fair to say, that a hypocritical Christian is still going to be a better bet on respecting women than a conservative Muslim?_______________
Now, consider the implications of all this. Isaiah in 700 BC (Isaiah 1:18)said “Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD” Let’s do just that….
Thinking this through carefully, where would the source of this approach to women most likely come from?
a) wishful thinking of the carnal nature of man OR
b) the creator who cares deeply about the nature and condition of His creation?
The Prophet (the blessing and peace of Allah be upon him) said: "I saw paradise and stretched my hands towards a bunch (of its fruits) and had I taken it, you would have eaten from it as long as the world remains. I also saw the Hell-fire and I had never seen such a horrible sight. I saw that most of the inhabitants were women." The people asked: "O Allah’s Apostle! Why is it so?" The Prophet (the blessing and peace of Allah be upon him) said: "Because of their ungratefulness." It was asked whether they are ungrateful to Allah. The Prophet (the blessing and peace of Allah be upon him) said: "They are ungrateful to their companions of life (husbands) and ungrateful to good deeds." [Sahih Al-Bukhari 1052.]
Note that at least here Muhammad uses the term companion to describe the husband wife relationship. Does he use it in the same light as Malachi? (Malachi 2:13-17) _________________________________________________________
[Muhammad said], "O women! Give to charity, for I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-Fire were women." The women asked, "O Allah’s Apostle! What is the reason for it?" He said: "O women! You curse frequently, and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. O women, some of you can lead a cautious man astray” [Sahih Al-Bukhari 1462]
Compare the above to the following Bible passage from I Peter 3:
7. ?You husbands in the same way, live with {your wives} in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.
8. To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit;
9. not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you might inherit a blessing.?
Is the god of Islam the God of the Bible? ____________
Does a craftsmen care about His work? _____________
From our comparison of the sacred writings of these two very different religions, which God is more likely to have created women? _____________
Now compare the attitudes of 1 Peter 3:7-9 (quoted above) to the Koran below...
"O ye who believe! Draw not near unto prayer when ye are drunken, till ye know that which ye utter, nor when ye are polluted, save when journeying upon the road, till ye have bathed. And if ye be ill, or on a journey, or one of you cometh from the closet, or ye have touched women, and ye find not water, then go to high clean soil and rub your faces and your hands (therewith). Lo! Allah is Benign, Forgiving. [Surah 4.043]
This Koranic passage describes losing the right of a man to pray through women. Peter did as well. Relevant to our study on women:
